After working for the culture and media industries in Sweden for 20 years Sandra Wall was headhunted to become an active part of her home-town development connected to music, sustainability and creative industries in Norrk?ping, just south of Stockholm.
As the focal point for the UNESCO City of Music process since 2017, she is in charge of the glocal work to make the music community, the creative sector, events and meetings work as a driving force for growth and social sustainability-but also to achieve the SDGs as well as municipal goals and visions.
For example, the global awareness project for gender equality in Music Cities, EQ started in Norrk?ping. The city is also part of development programs like the Ecuropean Music Policy Exchange and legacy work for convention bureaus.
Norrk?ping is the only UNESCO Creative City of Music in the Nordics and hosted festivals like Br?valla, global conferences like Music Cities Forum and showcase festivals like Where?s the Music and Future Echoes. Norrk?ping is also the host of national and international sports events and in 2023 the European Choir Games.
