Leonz Eder

Leonz Eder is President of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), a position he has held since November 2023. He has been involved in FISU since 1991 and has served in numerous leadership roles, including FISU Acting President (2021–2023), 1st Vice President (2015–2023), Vice President (2011–2015) and Executive Committee member since 2003.  

 A Swiss national with a background in physical education and sports management, Mr Eder holds an MSc in Physical Education from the University of Bern and a Sports Management Diploma from the Swiss Olympic Committee/University of Fribourg. He began his professional career as a teacher before becoming Director of the Sports Department at the University of St. Gallen. Leonz Eder was awarded honorary doctorates from universities in Lithuania, Korea, and Ukraine. 

Mr Eder has played a significant role in the development of Swiss and international university sport. He served as Managing Director of the Swiss University Sports Federation from 1998 to 2023 and has been President of the Swiss University Sports Foundation since 2018. He also held various positions at the European University Sports Association (EUSA). In addition he contributed to numerous FISU World University Championships and major university sport events.
